World Theatre day brings you the schedule of the 15th TESZT

The Csiky Gergely Hungarian Theatre in Timișoara is ready for the 15th edition of the Euroregional Theatre Festival TESZT, which will take place between May 19-26th 2024. The schedule is available on www.teszt.ro, with full descriptions coming soon. Early bird packs can be bought starting April 1st - 300 lei for 10 performances.

This year, the TESZT selection focuses on the theme of “The other perspective”, as a mirror for subjects and themes we do not usually think about or which oppose our own beliefs in an increasingly polarized world. The selected productions offer an opportunity for better understanding of the dynamics of human motivations. More than a decade ago, TESZT was born in order to promote multiculturalism and the newest theatre trends and it created a meeting place for theatre makers and the audience. This is why the schedule incorporates performances as well as Q&As, free artistic workshops and workshops for dramaturgy and theatre students.

The programme brings together 24 performances from Hungary, Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, Greece, Bulgaria, Italy, France, Germany, the UK and Finland, including two productions ("Penthesilea" and "Spread the Love") which will be in open-air spaces, with free access. The EXT@TESZT extension offers international exposure for three local independent companies (Independent Company Arte-Factum, Unfold Motion, Basca Theatre). The festival begins and ends with the organizer-theatre's productions "1978" and "Pericles", directed by internationally renowned artists Tomi Janežič and Philip Parr. The common ground for all these performances is an aesthetics which is strongly connected to current trends and a desire to  overcome the commonplace and patterns in theatre - that's why the festival is based on the unique work of authors such as Urbán András, Selma Spahić, Mario Banushi, Stefano Té, Nagy József and Horváth Csaba. Regarding shows which are already internationally acclaimed, TESZT brings to Timișoara, and for the first time in Romania, the production "Taverna Miresia - Mario, Bella, Anastasia", directed by the young Mario Banushi - a disturbingly sensitive visual poem about family and death.

Early bird packs are available between the 1st of April and 1st of May, at the price of 300 lei for 10 performances, plus a TESZT15 branded t-shirt or bag. Starting from May 1st, individual tickets will be available online and at the theatre’s tickets office for 50 lei per performance and 30 lei for concerts, while 10-ticket passes will cost 400 lei and 5 ticket-passes will cost 200 lei. All performances will be translated into Romanian, Hungarian and English, depending on the language of the performance. Moderated discussions will be held at the end of each day and the audience can talk directly to the artists.

Early bird packs can only be purchased at the ticket office of the Hungarian Theatre (2 Alba Iulia), for additional info contact 0356-450.606 or ticket@tm-t.ro.
