HENRY IV WAS SELECTED FOR THE NATIONAL THEATRE FESTIVAL

The most important festival in Romania will take place during October 18-27th in Bucharest.

 
"The selection was completed during complicated times for Romanian theatres: several openings were cancelled, others had significant delays, but it is good that they could be realized, afterall. All these problems pushed the people working in theatres to concentrate even more on their work. We chose varied performances, companies and artists who will take part in the Festival for the first time, very different human and dramaturgical universes. The number of selected shows is an indicator of a coherent theatre workers' guild, who is very focused on the its activity. Directors are continuously searching for new scripts, or putting new emphasis on already famous pieces of writing. During my search I encountered attention to detail, imagination, creativity and most of all - the joy of doing this job. I wanted to bring into the limelight everything that represents new tendencies, evolution of a certain director, the contact of creators with theatre teams whom they have previously worked with, or came back to develop new coordinates.

I found wonderful places throughout the country and I was touched to see that Romania cannot exist without culture." - this is the message of Marina Constantinescu, the artistic director of the National Theatre Festival.
