"The Tragedy of Man" Returns to the Stage in the Last Month of 2024

The "Csiky Gergely" Hungarian State Theater from Timișoara brings back to the stage "The Tragedy of Man”, directed by Silviu Purcărete, after Madách Imre's masterpiece, a monumental philosophical drama that explores the human condition and the meaning of life - Friday, December 6, from 5 p.m. and from 8 p.m. in the Great Hall.

After the expulsion from Paradise, Adam, accompanied by Lucifer, embarks on a symbolic journey through human history, revealing the depths of the human soul, on the border between decadence and evolution. Man leaves Paradise and passes through ancient Egypt, Greece, Rome, the Byzantine Empire, Paris, Great Britain, the Ice Age and the Future - and Purcărete guides the audience through a foray into time, painstakingly constructed with the help of set designer Dragoș Buhagiar and composer Vasile Sirli. Although published in the 19th century, "The Tragedy of Man" preserves its relevance, and its message remains valid - "All is old and all is new".

The impressive cast brings to the stage: Aszalos Géza, Balázs Attila, Bandi András Zsolt, Borbély B. Emília, Éder Enikő, Erdős Bálint, Hegyi Kincső, Karsai Dóra, Kiss Attila, Kocsárdi Levente, Lőrincz Rita, Lukács-György Szilárd, Magyari Etelka, Mátyás Zsolt Imre, Mihály Csongor, Molnos András Csaba, Tokai Andrea, Vajda Boróka, Vass Richárd, Tar Mónika, to offer a show with a deep symbolic and artistic charge.

The show benefits from translation in Romanian and English.

Tickets can be purchased at the Hungarian Theater Box Office (Alba Iulia street no. 2), from Monday to Friday between 1:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., as well as two hours before the show.
