End of the 2024/2025 Theatre Season
The "Csiky Gergely" Hungarian State Theatre in Timișoara concluded its 71st theatrical year on July 3, 2025, marking a season full of success, challenges and transformations. The theatre team brought 7 new shows to the stage, launched projects, and showed openness to innovation and inclusion.
Premieres – the Season's Highlights
Adult theater
"Deep Flight" - poetic monologue to the music of Cseh Tamás, directed by Balázs Attila.
"Dead Season" – social operetta, directed by: Kedves Emőke.
"Birdy" – adaptation of the novel of the same name written by William Wharton, directed by Gyulay Eszter.
Children's / Puppet Theater
"The Swan Fairy" – a funny and playful adaptation of a classic fairy tale, directed by: Zoltán Dió.
"The Light Christmas" – traditional Christmas show, directed by: Rumi László.
"Little Red Riding Hood" – puppet show with a contemporary message, directed by: Bartal Kiss Rita.
"The Adventures of Plüm Plüm" – interactive show for the whole family, directed by Varga Ibolya.
Events and Impact
- Development of the puppet theater department under the leadership of András Szőke Kavinszki
- Making three shows accessible for people with hearing impairments and neurodivergent children and organizing three inclusive performances
- "Caravaggio Paraphrases" exhibition in collaboration with the Timișoara Art Museum
- Making of PARALLEL CITY - screening of the film about the rehearsal process of the Parallel City trilogy (co-produced with the Diogene Association, the German State Theater and the Merlin Theater)

A New Beginning
The interim manager of the Hungarian Theatre, director Hunor Horváth, presents his artistic and managerial vision for the coming years, based on solid professional experience and a relevant artistic path.
Under the sign of empathy, diversity and accessibility, the new artistic strategy proposes a living, poetic theatre, anchored in the present, but attentive to the past. The focus will be on new technologies, modern aesthetics, multimedia and a close relationship with the younger generation.
