"Caravaggio" – the last performance in a series held in parallel with "Caravaggio's Lights"

The "Csiky Gergely" Hungarian State Theatre  has reached the final performance of the show "Caravaggio", which concludes a stage trilogy held in parallel with the prestigious exhibition hosted by the National Museum of Art in Timișoara, "The Lights of Caravaggio". This series of performances offered the audience a unique insight into the life and work of Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio, highlighting the genius and tumult of an existence marked by passion and contradictions and alternating from a delicious comic to the somber image of the unhappy destiny of a misunderstood artist.

Over the past three months, the performances in this theatrical cycle have gone hand in hand with the exhibition, creating a dialogue between visual arts and contemporary theater. Through this cultural synergy, the audience had the opportunity to explore the world of the famous painter more deeply, discovering his darkness and lights both in the exhibition hall and on stage. In addition to aligning with a similar cultural vision, the two institutions have concluded a partnership for the public interested in cultural events, through which the visitor of the exhibition who presented the exhibition access ticket at the theater box office would benefit from a 50% discount on the purchase of a ticket to the theater performance.

As the curtain falls on Caravaggio, the exhibition at the Museum of Art also concludes its run, marking the end of an artistic initiative that brought together theater and art lovers in a unique cultural experience. The show can be seen on Friday, February 7, at 7 p.m., in the Great Hall of the Hungarian Theater.

The show is surtitled in Romanian and English. Tickets (30 lei full price/15 lei with discount) can be purchased at the theater box office, Monday to Friday between 1pm and 7pm, or online .
