Opening of the 2022/2023 season at the Csiky Gergely Hungarian State Theatre in Timișoara
Csiky Gergely Hungarian State Theatre in Timișoara starts the new 2022/2023 season with two openings. The season begins this week with the performance „Parallel City: Fabric”, and the second premiere will take place in October – „Petőfi-Selfie”. During this time, the Hungarian Theater implemented the sale of tickets directly on the theater’s website. The opening of the season is also announced by the cultural-sports event Actor’s World Championships.
The first premiere of the season is the performance ‚Parallel City: Fabric’, which is part of the „Parallel City” trilogy. The show will have its first performances on August 27th and 28th, 2022, starting from the „Corneliu Coposu” vaporetto station, near the Decebal Bridge, and will then continue at the New Millennium Reformed Center. Through an application, which will be downloadable on site, the spectators will be able to access the stories in four languages: Romanian, Hungarian, German and English. The „Parallel City: Fabric” is part of the Urban Dilemmas: Parallel City project developed by the Diogene Cultural Association in co-production with the „Csiky Gergely” Hungarian State Theater and the German State Theater Timișoara. The tickets on the Hungarian Theater website are sold out, and the next performances will take place in September. The project is part of the Cultural Program „Timișoara 2023 - European Capital of Culture” and is financed by the Municipality of Timișoara through the Project Center.
Also, rehearsals have begun for the next premiere in the 2022/2023 season - the performance „Petőfi-Selfie” directed by Bartal-Kiss Rita, in co-production with the Puppets Section of the „Tomcsa Sándor” Theatre in Odorheiu Secuiesc. The performance is built around the figure of Petőfi Sándor, the most famous Hungarian poet of the Romantic Era, an important personality both artistically and politically. Bartal-Kiss Rita, specialized in puppet theatre for children and youth, is collaborating with our Theatre for the second time, after the production of „Romeo and Juliet”. The premiere will take place in the Main Hall on October 9th, from 6:00 p.m. The performance will be translated into Romanian.
Starting this season, the ticket sales are possible directly from the theater’s website at: https://ticket.tm-t.ro/ro. Thus, intermediaries are eliminated, making purchases quicker.
The event taking place immediately after the first premiere of the new season is the Actor's World Championships, on September 3-4th, 2022. The Csiky Gergely Hungarian State Theater company and the ProTeszt Association once again invite all theater and sports lovers to meet in the spirit of competition and fair play. This project started in 2017 and is the only one of its kind in the country, an absolute premiere because it combines cultural events and sports competitions in which cultural employees and theater students can participate. Actors and theater admirers from Romania, Hungary and Serbia are invited to the competitions for the following disciplines: football, streetball, beach volleyball, tennis, table tennis, chess, cycling, badminton and athletics.
