FROM SIBERIA TO TIMIȘOARA IN ORDER TO TAKE PART IN TESZT – THE EUROREGIONAL THEATRE FESTIVAL TIMIȘOARA TESZT OPENS WITH „SOCIOPATH/HAMLET”

Drama Theatre „Stary Dom" from Novosibirsk will open the 12th editon of TESZT with a production directed by Andrey Prikotenko - „Sociopath/Hamlet", a fresh reading of Shakespeare's character, in line with the festival theme - HERO/ANTIHERO. During the next few days, TESZT will present shows from france, Belgium, Hungary, Slovenia, Germany and Romania, as well as productions of the hosting theatre: Swan Lake Revisited and Henry the 4th.

Heroism and antiheroism, models and deconstruction of savior and hero templates- these are the themes of all TESZT 2019 performances. „Sociopath/Hamlet" was selected via the open call launched for East European productions. This is what the director, Andrey Prikotenko thinks about the Novosibirsk version of the Hamlet character: «To be or not to be» is not as relevant today. People want to say something else. Why choosing a sociopath? He is the most common type. He chose his standpoint: always interesting only to himself, inside his own universe and completely oblivious to the world surrounding him."

Due to the collaboration with Romania-France Cultural Season, Wednesday is reserved for a contemporary dance piece by the French company Cie Malka, "Têtes d'Affiche/Top of the Bill". On Thursday, the Belgian-Dutch duo Enkidu Khaled and Chris Keulemans presents "Bagdad", a documentary theatre piece which analyzes the consequences of war. On the same day, as well as Friday, TESZT presents "Hero 2.0 The Show of All Shows", created by Uroš Kaurin and Vito Weis, two of Slovenia's best young actors. On Friday you can also see another new approach to classical writing: "Macbeth" by W. Shakespeare, performed by actors from "Jászai Mari" Theatre in Tatabánya. Saturday brings one of the most popular shows in Romania at this point: "Medea's Boys", directed by Andrei Măjeri, as well as a recent production from Germany, "Antigona", directed by Kristóf Szabó. The theatre which organizes TESZT, Csiky Gergely Hungarian State Theatre, will present its newest productions on Tuesday at 5 p.m. "Swan Lake Revisited", directed by Kokan Mladenovic, as well as on Sunday at 4 p.m. „Henry the 4th", stage director Victor Ioan Frunză.

The audience and guest will have to opportunity to ask questions and talk to the artists after every performance. All shows will benefit from Romanian, Hungarian and English translation.
